Massa
The Massa lagoon, situated at an hour drive south of Agadir, is normally counted as Morocco's best bird reserve. In the lagoon, which is to large extent a river that ends in wide lake before it is sealed off from the sea by sand banks, you will find numerous rare birds.
Birds here count desert visitors, together with flamingos, avocets and ducks. In the mornings you will be able to spot black and spotted sandgrouse. In between the vegetation there will be godwit, turnstone, dunlin, snipe, black-headed bush shrike and little crake. Out in the open sea the flamingos rest, together with spoonbill, white stork, black-winged stilt, marsh harrier and osprey. Excursion from Agadir in 1 day: Leave at 8:00 am, drive at the mean road tell the fishermen village of Tifnite , visit the caves used as rooms, then start the off road driving along some fabulous cliffs , possibility to see big flocks of Bald ibis feeding. Arrive to Sidi Rbatt, walk into the beach across the natural park of Massa. Lunch at the Kasbah Tassila or drive to the Dam reservoir Youssef Ben Tachfine, and get to the small sand dunes (small Sahara) possibility of having lunch at a Berber house near the dunes. After lunch, drive to Tiznite city, quick visit, café stop and drive back to Agadir and get there by 5:00 pm.
